America, "What don’t you know and how will you learn it?"

Tulsa, Oklahoma: October 12 On layover for East Coast-bound flight, to follow the Clintons' campaigning for Obama, I reflect on the so-called Zen question posed to McCain and Obama in last week's debate ("what don't you know and how will you learn it?") and here recall the famous syllogism by former U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on knowing/not knowing, that American ontological obsession with and ontological terror about What's Next.

As we know, there are known knowns...
...these are things we know that we know... ...there are known unknowns......that is to say, there are things that we know we don't know......but there are also unknown unknowns......there are things we don't know we don't know......the ones we don't know......we don't know
